Your Holiday Packing List During Pregnancy

Planning a holiday while pregnant can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. With a little bit of planning, you can easily pack everything you need to stay comfortable and safe during your trip.

We’ve put together a basic checklist - you may need to pack additional items depending on your individual needs. But by packing these essential items, you can help to ensure that you have a safe and comfortable holiday during pregnancy.

Here are some of the essential items you should pack for your holiday if travelling when pregnant:

  • Water bottle: Staying hydrated is especially important during pregnancy, so make sure to pack a refillable water bottle.
  • Compression socks: If you're taking a long-haul flight, compression socks can help to prevent blood clots.
  • Travel pillow: A travel pillow can provide extra comfort and support, especially if you're travelling by plane or train.
  • Noise cancelling headphones: Noise cancelling headphones can help you to block out noise and relax, which can be especially helpful if you're travelling with a baby.
  • Healthy snacks: Pack your favourite healthy snacks to keep your energy levels up and hunger at bay.
  • Comfy shoes: Avoid sore feet and ankles by packing comfortable shoes.
  • Reflux tablets: If you suffer from heartburn or acid reflux, make sure to pack your trusty reflux tablets.
  • Medication:  Don’t forget to bring any essential medications and vitamins when travelling.
  • SPF and a hat: If you’re heading to warmer climates, remember to always pack a good SPF50 to protect your sensitive skin from harmful UV rays. A hat is always advisable too, to keep you covered and out of the sun.
  • Antibacterial hand gel: Always keep antibacterial hand gel or wipes close by.
  • Extra underwear and panty liners: It's always a good idea to have some extra panties in your hand luggage.
  • Carry on beauty essentials: A natural deodorant such as the Hatch Mama Deo and your favourite facial serum like the Ultimate Glow by Hatch are always a good idea
  • Support belt: A support belt can be a huge help to alleviate the aches and pains from your growing bump, especially during the latter part of your pregnancy. Consider renting your support band, such as the LOLA&LYKKE Core Relief Pregnancy Belly Band
  • Bring layers: Your temperature can fluctuate during pregnancy. You may be feeling hot one minute and cold the next, so it's a good idea to pack layers of clothing.
  • Maternity notes: It's always a good idea to have your maternity notes with you when travelling, especially in your third trimester.
  • A letter from your midwife or doctor: If you're flying after 28 weeks of pregnancy, you will need a ‘fit to fly’ letter.
  • Travel insurance documents: Make sure your travel insurance covers you while you're pregnant.
  • Wear comfortable clothing: Loose, comfortable clothing will help you to feel your best during your trip. If you’re looking for inspiration on what to wear, look no further, we’ve got you covered!

Here are some additional tips for packing:

  • Pack light and opt for luggage with wheels. You don't want to be weighed down by heavy luggage.
  • Pack for all weather conditions. You never know what the weather will be like, so it's a good idea to pack for all types of weather.
  • Pack snacks and drinks. You may not always have access to food and drinks, so it's a good idea to pack your own.
  • Pack your contact information and emergency contact information. This will be important if you need to get in touch with someone in case of an emergency.
  • Do your research: Wherever you're going, look into the local hospital, where it's located and also make sure you know the contact details for emergency services, especially if you’re travelling abroad!
